Number verification

Check which phone numbers in a list are registered on WhatsApp before you send a campaign to them. You upload a spreadsheet, Wbiztool checks each number from your connected WhatsApp number, and you download the results.

Verification doesn't send anything to the numbers and doesn't use your message credits.

Before you start#

  • A plan that includes number verification. Your plan also sets how many numbers one file can contain.
  • At least one WhatsApp number connected on WhatsApp settings. The checks run from it, so numbers stay Pending while no number is connected.
  • You must be an owner or editor of the workspace to upload files and download results.
  • A CSV or Excel file with the numbers, including their country codes.

Prepare your file#

  • File types: .csv, .xlsx or .xls.
  • Header row: the first row must contain column names. It's never checked as a number.
  • Phone column: the first column whose header contains phone, number, mobile, whatsapp or contact (in any letter case) is used. If no header matches, the first column is used.
  • Country code: include it, for example 919876543210. No country code is added for you.
  • Formatting: +, spaces, dashes and brackets are removed, and one leading 0 is dropped. Anything after a decimal point is dropped (919876.5 becomes 919876). Numbers in scientific notation, such as 9.19877E+11, and cells with other characters are skipped. Format the phone column as text.
  • Duplicates: repeated numbers are removed, so each number is checked once.

The Format Guidelines window lists (555) 123-4567 as a valid format, but that number has no country code and will be checked as the wrong number. Always include the country code.

An example CSV:

Name,Phone
Aman,919876543210
Priya,+91 98765 43211
Leo,14155550123

Verify a list#

  1. Open Number Verification

In the sidebar, open Tools and click Number Verification, or go to /whatsapp-number-verify/.

  2. Name the campaign

Enter a Campaign Name so you can find the results later, such as September leads.

  3. Add your file

Drop the file on the upload area or click Choose File. Click Format Guidelines if you need a reminder of the rules.

  4. Start the check

Click Start Verification. The confirmation says how many numbers were queued. The page notes that verification usually takes 1 to 2 minutes per 100 numbers.

  5. Download the results

In Recent Verification Campaigns, click View Details on your campaign, then Download Results.

Plan limit#

The upload area shows Your current plan allows N verifications. A single file can't contain more unique numbers than that. If it does, nothing is queued and you see:

File contains 1500 numbers but your plan allows only 1000 verifications

The limit applies per file; it isn't a monthly total.

Split the list into smaller files, or upgrade on Billing & Plans.

Verification statuses#

StatusMeaning
PendingWaiting to be checked.
VerifiedThe number is registered on WhatsApp.
InvalidThe number isn't on WhatsApp, or isn't a valid phone number.

Where to see results#

  • Recent Verification Campaigns shows your 5 most recent campaigns. View Details shows the total count and 10 of the numbers with their status (not necessarily the first rows of your file). The card's Created: date is in India Standard Time (IST). Download the file to see every number.
  • All Verifications lists every number from every campaign, newest first, 20 per page, with the columns Campaign, Phone Number, Status, Checked At and Created, in UTC. Checked At shows Not checked until the number has been checked.

Verifications created with the Create verification API appear on this page too.

Download format#

The file is a CSV named verification_results_<campaign name>_<date and time>.csv, with one row per number, sorted by phone number.
